how to operate the oil tanker semi trailer

1. Make sure that the tractor truck is compatible with the semitrailer to which it is connected, to avoid adverse conditions:
(1)The traction saddle must match the traction pin that may come in two sizes: 50 and 90.
(2)The height of the traction pin of the semitrailer must match the height of the traction base.
(3)The front and rear turning radiuses must not interfere with each other.

2. Clean off the foreign matter such as sand and dust on the surface of traction saddle and on the traction pin and traction pin plate and apply adequate lubricating grease evenly to the surface of the traction saddle.

3. Connection of semitrailer to tractor truck
(1)Handle the support to put the traction pin plate of the semitrailer at a proper height to match the traction base. By standard, the traction pin of the semitrailer is approximately 10-30 mm lower than the traction base of the tractor truck (see the figure below). Otherwise the semitrailer cannot be coupled safely and the traction base, traction pin and other components will be damaged.

(2)Operate the locking mechanism of the traction base (see Operating Instruction for Tractor Truck) to unfold the locking block and check whether the locking block is in unfolded state.

(3)Drive the tractor truck backward to let the traction pin of the semitrailer enter the opening of the locking mechanism via the V opening of the traction base. The traction pin will push the locking block to rotate and the locking block will in turn lock the traction pin.
(4)Check whether the locking block of the locking mechanism of the traction base has locked the traction pin and whether the locking is secure.
(5)Operate the support to retract the outreaching part and put the crank back to the hook.
(6)Move the tractor truck slightly forward to check the coupling.

4. Air circuit connection
(1)Connect the two air circuit connectors of the tractor truck respectively to the two air circuit connectors of the semitrailer, connect the air inflation pipe to that of the semitrailer and connect the control line of the tractor truck to that of the semitrailer. No misconnection is allowed, for this will inhibit the braking system from working properly.
(2)Check the air circuit for air leakage and check whether the braking system works properly.

5. Electric circuit connection
(1)Insert the cable connection plug of the tractor truck into the cable connection socket at the forepart of the semitrailer.
(2)Check whether the electrodes are contacted properly and whether the lamps work correctly and replace electrode connection if necessary.

6. Before a new truck is put in service, check the following:
(1)Before a new truck is put in use, check the inside conditions of the tank and clean the inside.
(2)Check whether the ESD chain is in contact with the ground.
(3)Check whether the oil drain outlet valves are closed.
(4)Check all the connectors and fasteners for looseness, check whether the tyres have correct air pressure, and check whether there is any leakage of oil or gas.
(5)Before starting the truck, check all the door locks, tightening latch and locking hooks to see whether they are securely locked, so as to avoid any unwanted incidents.
(6)No load is allowed in the first 10 km of travel.
(7)The load in the first time is not allowed to exceed 75% of the rated load.

7. The truck travels just the way other automobiles do, but the following rules must be observed:
(1)When traveling down a long slope or steep slope, use the engine brake of the tractor truck as much as possible, to avoid overheat of the brake drum.
(2)The main braking system is not allowed to be used alone for long time.
(3)When make a turn, the truck shall slow down to avoid toppling.
(4)In case of uneven road surface and harsh service conditions, the truck shall travel slowly to reduce the impact suffered by the truck body.

8. Parking and separation
(1)The truck shall park at flat and firm pavement and avoid emergency braking.
(2)The semitrailer shall preferably separate from the tractor truck when they are on flat and firm pavement. If separation has to happen on soft ground or bituminous pavement in summer, thick wood plank shall be placed under the support to avoid the situation where the truck is unable to reconnect due to settlement of the support.
(3)Disengage the air circuit switch of the semitrailer and remove the air inflation connector and control connector of the tractor truck from the semitrailer.
(4)Pull the power plug out from the cable connection socket of the semitrailer.
(5)Handle the support to make the base of the support touch the ground and raise the semitrailer by 20-50 mm, so that the tractor truck can detach smoothly.
(6)Operate the locking mechanism of the tractor truck to make the locking block unfold.
(7)Drive the tractor truck forward to detach the traction pin from the traction base and the semitrailer from the tractor truck.
(8)After detachment, check the components of the semitrailer for any anomaly and open the water drain valve at the lower part of the air cylinder to drain the water accumulated inside.

9. Oil loading at the bottom:
(1)Connect the anti-overflow plug of the oil depot to the anti-overflow socket, oil & gas recovery joint to the oil & gas recovery pipe of the oil depot and the oil drain valve of each compartment to the oil filling pipe of the oil depot;
(2)Turn on the master switch of the air circuit and the air circuit control switch of each compartment to fill oil in each compartment;
(3)Upon completion of oil loading, close the oil drain valve, turn off the air circuit control switch of each compartment and the master switch of the air circuit and remove the oil filling pipe, oil & gas recovery pipe and anti-overflow plug from the oil depot.

10. Oil unloading at the bottom:
(1)Connect the grounding wires and static electricity conducting wires of the tank body and the petrol station;
(2)Fix the reducer union for the oil drain valve of each compartment and connect it to the oil filling pipe of the petrol station; fix the reducer union for oil & gas recovery and connect it to the oil & gas recovery pipe of the petrol station;
(3)Turn on the master switch of the air circuit and the air circuit control switch of each compartment to unload the oil from each compartment to the petrol station;
(4)Upon completion of oil unloading, close the oil drain valve, turn off the air circuit control switch of each compartment and the master switch of the air circuit and remove the oil filling pipe and oil & gas recovery pipe from the oil depot.
